The Mad Poetess' Laboratory {Trial iii}

~

Trial iii: Purple

By: The Mad Poetess

Purpose:

To balance out

the extremity of

Crimson.

Tundra.

Oceanic.

Hypothesis:

If the elements of

fire

and

water

(red

and

blue)

are combined

the extremity of one element

will cancel out

the extremity

of the other element.

A union that will

prove itself to be

epiphanous

in impact

For

Purple will bleed

upon these pages

and

Poetry

shall reign

once again.

Materials:

  • Crimson

  • Tundra

  • Oceanic

  • Inkwell x4

  • Artist's palette

  • Quill pen

  • Parchment

Procedure:

1. Recreate Crimson:

  • With the needle, prick finger; remove needle at the first dewdrop of blood

  • Crush and mix devil's cherries with teardrops upon artist's palette

  • Add dewdrop and rest of concoction on to palette and mix using whatever is convenient (fingers, paint brush, hair, etc)

  • Transfer Crimson to inkwell

  • Place ink well above bunsen burner

  • Burn for 40 days and 40 nights until Crimson is matured

2. Recreate Tundra:

  • When all the world is a snowstorm and the sky begins to foam at the mouth, press the crimson to the hypothermic terrain;

  • Sculpt snow around the inkwell and

  • Leave overnight

  • At dawn, bring the frozen inkwell into the solarium--here, it is warm enough for human flesh, but cold enough to ensure the ice does not melt

  • Mix with Crimson in a separate inkwell

3. Recreate Oceanic:

  • When spring arrives in late May, bring the inkwell into the garden

  • Allow the Tundra time to melt

  • Once the ice has melted, add Ophelia’s petals: rosemary (for remembrance); pansies (for thoughts); fennel; columbines; rue; a single daisy; withered violets

  • Mix with crimson & tundra in a separate inkwell until

4, A deep purple is formed

5. Press quill to parchment

6. Write poetry

Observations:

From the inkwell,

an eruption of purple

molten

and

possessing the ability

to both burn and drown--

Yet,

miraculously,

both parchment

and stanza

survive.
